Guidelines Approved for DGP Appointment in Uttar Pradesh:
The UP Cabinet has approved the Director General of Police Uttar Pradesh Selection and Appointment Rules 2024. Its main objective is to establish an independent and transparent mechanism for the selection of a suitable person for appointment to the post of DGP. The selection committee for the appointment of the new DGP will be headed by a retired judge of the High Court. This committee will include the Chief Secretary of the State, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary of the Home Department and retired State DGP.
Joint Venture Formed by NTPC and ONGC for Renewable Energy Sector:
NTPC Limited and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation have formed a joint venture company to promote their interests in the renewable and new energy sector. Indian Navy hosted the third edition of the Ocean Summit on Maritime Security. The Ocean Summit is a biennial flagship outreach event aimed at promoting cooperation among maritime leaders of the Indian Ocean Region under the framework of proactive security and growth for all in the region. The theme of the summit is Training Cooperation to Mitigate Common Maritime Security Challenges in the IOR. Quacquarelli Symonds has released the World University Rankings Asia 2025. A total of 22 universities from India have found place in the Asia region of the World University Rankings released by QS. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has topped the South Asian category, which includes universities from India and Pakistan.
