NTPC Limited in collaboration with Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun has developed an indigenous catalyst for hydrogenation of methanol from CO2. NETRA, the research and development arm of NTPC has developed this indigenous catalyst. Catalysts are an essential component for any chemical synthesis. NTPC has taken several steps towards its commitment to reduce greenhouse gases. The purity of methanol produced by this catalyst is more than 99%.
India’s Core Sector Growth Data
According to the data of the Ministry of Commerce, the production of India’s eight core sectors has increased by 2% on an annual basis in September 2024. During April-September of this financial year, the growth of the core sector was 4.2%. The production of cement, refinery products, coal, fertilizers and steel showed positive growth in September 2024. Cement production has increased by 7.1% in September 2024 as compared to the same month last year.
