India to Participate in Euronaval 2024 Defence Exhibition
India will participate in the Euronaval 2024 defence exhibition in France. India is one of the 104 countries invited to participate in the world’s largest naval defence trade show, to be held in Paris from November 4-7. The event will focus on innovation, sovereignty, and international cooperation. Strategic and industrial challenges will be discussed during Euronaval 2024.
OECD Revises India’s FY25 Growth Forecast
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has revised India’s FY25 growth forecast from 6.6% to 6.7%. Growth is projected to be 4.5%, up from the earlier estimate of 4.3%. The Indian economy is expected to grow even faster at 6.8% in FY26, reflecting a gradual 20 basis point increase from May. The OECD emphasizes that India will remain the fastest-growing economy in 2024 and 2025, ahead of China, the US, and other G20 countries.
Ministry of Tourism Launches Partanya Mitra Initiative
The Ministry of Tourism has launched a responsible tourism initiative called Partanya Mitra. This initiative aims to improve tourist attractions across India by promoting local localization, especially among women and adolescents, who will serve as ambassadors and storytellers. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the initiative seeks to promote tourism as a means of social inclusion, employment, and economic growth.
SEBI Approves Key Initiatives at Board Meeting
SEBI held its board meeting and approved key initiatives to streamline the mutual fund industry and make trading easier for regular investors. Asset management businesses can now offer risky strategies like long-short equity to high-risk investors with a minimum investment of Rs 10 lakh. SEBI has introduced a seamless framework, MF Lite, with certain requirements.
IndusInd Bank Appoints Sumant Kathpalia as MD & CEO
The board of IndusInd Bank has announced the appointment of Sumant Kathpalia as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term from March 24, 2025, to March 23, 2028. The appointment has been approved by the Reserve Bank of India. Kathpalia has been MD and CEO since March 24, 2020, and his reappointment is subject to the approval of RBI and shareholders. With over 36 years of experience, Kathpalia has previously worked with Citibank, Bank of America, and ABN Amro.
Women Leadership Program in Space Launched
India has launched the Women Leadership Program in Space to promote gender equality. This initiative, part of the UK India Education and Research Initiative, has been launched by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the British Council. It aims to enhance gender-inclusive practices within institutions and strengthen women’s leadership in space science through the development of strategic leadership frameworks. The program targets the leadership capacity of 250 early career researchers.
Oxygen Bird Park Inaugurated in Nagpur
Oxygen Bird Park was inaugurated on Nagpur Hyderabad National Highway-44 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This environmental initiative has been developed by the National Highways Authority of India near Jamtha on Nagpur Hyderabad National Highway 44. The park spans 8.23 hectares, with 2.5 hectares dedicated to social forestry.

A one-day conference for the directors of small finance banks was organized in Bengaluru. The theme was “Governance in SFBs: Promoting Sustainable Growth and Stability.” RBI Deputy Governor Shri Swaminathan J encouraged the directors to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and mitigating emerging risks.
