1. India’s GDP growth rate forecast
RBI said India’s real GDP growth is likely to be 7.2% in FY 2024-2025. Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has said that India’s growth remains intact as its fundamental drivers consumption and investment demand are gaining momentum. India’s real GDP growth is likely to be 7.2% in FY 2024-2025, Mr Das said in the RBI’s monthly bulletin.
2. Swavalamban 2024: Indian Navy event
The curtain lift press conference for the third edition of Swavalamban 2024 Indian Navy Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation was held in New Delhi. Members of the Food and Agriculture Organization adopted the Rome Declaration on Water Scarcity in Agriculture. The Rome Declaration on Water Scarcity in Agriculture aims to address water scarcity and the climate crisis. The Water Scarcity in Agriculture Initiative was launched at the UN Climate Summit in 2006 to support countries in addressing the challenges of water scarcity. Under this declaration, countries have committed to mobilize greater political support in terms of policies, legal and institutional frameworks.

6. Paytm allowed to add new UPI users
Paytm has received approval from the National Payments Corporation of India to add new UPI users. However, the approval is subject to compliance with all procedural guidelines and circulars. In March, the NPCI allowed Paytm to participate in UPI as a third-party application provider. The RBI addressed persistent non-compliance and continued material supervisory concerns.
7. India’s fourth nuclear submarine launched
India’s fourth nuclear submarine was launched. The submarine is larger and more capable than INS Arihant, which was originally a technology demonstrator developed under the Advanced Technology Vessel program. The S4 is larger and can carry multiple K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The third SSBN, Aridaman, is currently undergoing sea trials and is expected to be inducted into service by 2025.
