Reserve Bank of India Expands Alert List of Unauthorized Foreign Exchange Shares

Supreme Court Upholds Right of States to Regulate Industrial Liquor

The Supreme Court upheld the right of states to regulate industrial liquor. A 9-judge Constitution bench by a majority of 8:1 upheld the right of states to regulate industrial liquor. Entry 8 gives the states the power to regulate the production, manufacture, possession, transport, purchase, and sale of alcoholic liquor. The Supreme Court judges said that the term alcoholic liquor in Entry 8 of the State List in the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution will include industrial liquor as well.
