Lignosat, Japan’s first wood satellite
Japanese scientists are set to test the world’s first wooden satellite. A team from Kyoto University and homebuilder Sumitomo Forestry has developed the wooden satellite called Lignosat. Lignosat is named after the Latin word for wood. It will be launched to the International Space Station via a SpaceX rocket. It will remain in orbit for six months to test how well the material can withstand extreme environments.
Madhya Pradesh government hikes compensation for wildlife attacks
The Madhya Pradesh government has increased the compensation amount for people killed in wildlife attacks from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the families of two people killed in elephant attacks in Umaria will be given an increased compensation of Rs 25 lakh each. An elephant killed two villagers in Deora village and Brahe village near Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

Reservation for women increased in Madhya Pradesh

In a boost to India’s defence capabilities, Pune-based Bharat Forge Limited has bagged the Indian Army’s contract for 307 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems. These advanced artillery systems have been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. Under the contract worth over Rs 6000 crore, Bharat Forge will manufacture 60% of the 307 howitzer guns. In addition, the second lowest bidder, Tata Advanced Systems Limited, will be responsible for the production of the remaining 40% of the 307 howitzer guns.
India-Algeria Defence Cooperation Agreement
MoU on bilateral defence cooperation was signed between India and Algeria. This MoU will enhance defence partnership between the two countries, increase mutual understanding and strengthen strategic interests. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army Saeed Chanegraha signed the MoU in the presence of military and officials.
ISRO’s Analog Space Mission
India’s first analog space mission has been launched by ISRO to plan lunar mission experiments. ISRO at Leh will simulate life in an interplanetary habitat. Important results of Aditya L1 mission
Scientists at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics have reported the first significant results from the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph payload of the Aditya L1 mission. India’s first solar mission was launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation on 2 September 2023. The VELC on Aditya L1 accurately predicted the onset time of the coronal mass ejection that erupted on the Sun on July 16. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru has developed the VELC.
