New Captive Elephant Rules 2024: Guidelines for InterState Transfers
The central government has notified a set of rules, the Captive Elephant Rules 2024. Under this rule, elephants can be transferred within or between states. A captive elephant can be transferred if the owner is no longer in a position to keep it or when the Chief Wildlife Officer of the state considers it necessary for better maintenance of the elephant. The Chief Wildlife Warden may choose to reject or approve the transfer.
Record Breaking Net Direct Tax Collection of Rs 18.9 Trillion Reported by Income Tax Department
According to Income Tax Department data, the net direct tax collection stood at Rs 18,90,259 crore. This includes corporation tax of Rs 9,14,469 crore and personal income tax, securities transaction tax including Rs 9,72,224 crore. Refunds worth about Rs 3.37 lakh crore have been issued in the current financial year.

According to the International Labor Organization, forced labour generates illegal profits of $36 billion per year. Illegal profits have increased by 37% since 2014, driven by an increase in the number of people forced into labour, as well as higher profits generated from the exploitation of victims.
