Army Commanders Conference 2024

Army Commanders Conference 2024 is being organized. It will be held virtually in New Delhi on 1st and 2nd April 2024. The conference provides an important platform for the top leadership of the Indian Army to discuss issues and evaluate the security situation of the country. On the first day of the conference, General Manoj Pandey will interact with the participating Army Commanders virtually from the Command Headquarters. The Investment Advi sory Committee of Army Group Insurance will meet after an intensive brainstorming session of the top Army leadership on April 1.

Supreme Court: Conditional Bail Cannot Curtail Political Rights

The Supreme Court said that judges should not order accused persons to give up their right to be po litically active in lieu of bail. In a recent order, a three-judge bench led by Justice BR Gavai said that making a person’s bail conditional and forcing him to stay away from politics is a clear violation of fundamental rights. The top court made this clear in a petition filed by a former mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation.

Indian Agricultural Research Institute Calls for Legal Action Against Pakistan for Renaming and Cultivating Protected Basmati Varieties

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute has demanded legal action against Pakistan for renaming and cultivating protected Basmati varieties in India. The blockbuster Pusa 1121 and 1509 Basmati varieties are being grown and marketed in Pakistan as 1121 Kainat and Kisan Basmati.

India Seeks Permission from International Seabed Authority to Explore Indian Ocean Seamounts

India has applied to the International Seabed Authority for permission to explore two areas of the seabed in the Indian Ocean. These areas are outside the jurisdiction of India, one of them is the Afanasy Nikitin Seamount. This is a cobalt rich area in the Indian Ocean which India wants to explore. It is a structural feature of the Central Indian Basin. It is 150 km wide and 400 km long. It is about 3000 kilometers away from the coast of India.

Wipro G Staff’s Rs 8000 Cr Investment

Wipro G Staff has announced an investment of Rs 8000 crore over five years in India to boost manufacturing and research and development. This investment is aimed at strengthening its manufacturing production and R&D capabilities. The company is focused on initial expansion of its Make in India for the World initiative, which includes localization of medical devices and products.

Sadanand V. Date: New NIA Director

Sadanand Vasant Date has been appointed Director General of the National Investigation Agency. He is a senior Indian Police Service officer of 1990 batch. He is currently serving as the head of Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad. His appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for a tenure till his superannuation on December 31, 2026. The appointment of Rajiv Kumar Sharma as Director General of Bureau of Police Research and Development has also been approved by the ACC.

India’s TB Incidence Declines 16%

Union Health Ministry released India TB Report 2024. According to the report, India has achieved a 16% decline in TB incidence and 18% decline in mortality due to TB since 2015. According to the report, the incidence rate has decreased from 237 per lakh population in 2015 to 199 per lakh population in 2022.

Oath Ceremony: Lokpal Members Sworn In

Justice AM Khanwilkar, Chairman of the Lokpal of India, administered the oath. Shri Pankaj Kumar and Shri Ajay Tirkey took oath as Lokpal members. The oath ceremony was organized at the Indian Lokpal Office in New Delhi. Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi served as the Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India before joining as the Judicial Member of the Lokpal of India. Earlier he was the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
