Exercise Tiger Triumph-24: Bilateral HADR Exercise between India and US

Exercise Tiger Triumph-24 is being conducted off the eastern seaboard of the US from 18 to 31 March 2024. It is a bilateral tri-service humanitarian assistance and disaster relief exercise between India and the US. The objective of this exercise is to develop interoperability for HADR operations. Its objective is to refine standard operating procedures to enable coordination between the US and Indian militaries. The harbor phase of the exercise will be conducted from March 18 to March 25. The sea phase will start after the harbor phase.

Appointment of Arvind Kapil Poonawala as New MD and CEO of Poonawala Fincorp

Poonawala Fincorp has announced the name of its new MD and CEO. It is also said that their current MD and CEO Abhay Bhutada is continuing in his post for a long time. Along with this, it has been said on behalf of the company that Arvind Kapil Poonawala, Group Head of Metals Bank, will be the new MD and CEO of Fincorp. Poonawala Fincorp has appointed its new MD and CEO for a period of five years with effect from June 24, 2024.

VSSC Develops Space Borne Assistant and Knowledge Hub App for Gaganyaan Crew

VSSC developed Space Borne Assistant and Knowledge Hub for Crew Interaction App for Gaganyaan crew. This multi-purpose app has been developed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, a facility of the Indian Space Research Organization in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram. The app will help astronauts on the Gaganyaan space flight mission accomplish a number of tasks like viewing important technical information or communicating with each other. The app will monitor the astronauts’ health, among other things.

Introducing the Know Your Candidate App: Stay Informed for the Lok Sabha Elections

Know Your Candidate app was launched by the Election Commission for voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This app allows voters to check this. Whether the candidate contesting in his constituency has a criminal record or not. This app is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar unveiled the KYC app at a press conference in New Delhi.

SEBI Approves Beta Launch of Optional Live T+O Settlement

The Securities and Exchange Board of India has approved the launch of the beta version of T+O Settlement on an optional basis from March 28. Live T+O settlement means that the transaction of money and securities will be settled on the trading day itself. The beta version of the alternative T+O settlement was approved with a limited set of 25 stocks and a limited set of brokers. SEBI will review the progress at the end of three and six months before deciding on further action.

Tata Plans Equity Draw from TCS to Reduce Debt

With the aim of reducing its debt, Tata is planning to draw 0.65% equity of Rs 9362.3 crore in Tata Consultancy. The move comes ahead of the Idea i laptop, which is also seeing a surge in stock. TCT contributed 95% in the revenue of FY 2013. The journal covers the important assets included in Tata’s asset portfolio.

Government Introduces Cinematograph Rules 2024

Government notified Cinematogram Rules, 2024. Cinematograph Rules 2024 have been notified by the government to reform the process of certification of films for public exhibition. The main objective of the rules is to streamline and modernize the film certification process. The Central Board of Film Certification has held extensive consultations with filmmakers, cinema owners, disability rights organizations, NGOs and film industry bodies to ensure an all-embracing and all-inclusive approach. 

Jammu and Kashmir Government Expands OBC List and Increases ST Reservation

Jammu and Kashmir government has included 15 new castes in Other Backward Classes. It has approved 10% reservation for tribes, which also includes Paharis. Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has approved the Social Welfare Department’s proposal to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules 2005. Total reservation for Scheduled Tribes has increased to 20%.

A team of researchers has discovered a previously unknown species of scorpion during a wildlife expedition in Thailand.
